WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE VINEYARD

Baby Grapes!
Once flowering finished in mid-June, fruit set began – where tiny green grape berries started to form. By the end of July, those berries have now become full-on grapes, which will continue to ripen and grow throughout the summer

FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS: Recipe of the Month
Peach-Lavender Sangria with our Sauvignon Blanc
It’s been a hot summer this year, so we put our Sauvignon Blanc to work and created this refreshing Sangria. The ingredient list is inspired by our area’s famous Dry Creek peaches and the 3 kinds of lavender we grow here at Adruni Vineyards.

INGREDIENTS:
- 1 750mL bottle Adruni Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc
- 1/3 cup brandy
- 1/3 cup Grand Marnier
- 12oz club soda (we like LaCroix Peach-Pear in this recipe)
- 1/3 cup lavender syrup (recipe below)
- 1 pint of strawberries, sliced
- 1 (10) ounce bag frozen peaches (use fresh if they’re in season by you!)
Add the strawberries and peaches to the bottom of a pitcher. Pour the wine, brandy, Grand Marnier, and lavender syrup over the fruit and stir. Place in the fridge and let it “marinate” for a couple hours. Add the club soda right before serving so it stays bubbly.
LAVENDER SIMPLE SYRUP
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tsp dried culinary lavender
Place the sugar, water and lavender in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk until the sugar dissolves, bringing the mixture to a simmer. Cook for 1 minute. Turn off the heat and set the saucepan aside. Let it cool completely. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the lavender. Store in a sealed container in the fridge!
