WHAT’S HAPPENING IN THE VINEYARD
JANUARY While it looks quiet, there is a lot happening to prepare for growing season! Pruning was completed during January. A winter ritual, pruning is the first official step of a new growing season and one of the most important. Proper pruning ensures optimum health of the plants for the coming fall’s harvest. Our vines are hand-trimmed with meticulous attention to detail – it’s both an art and a science!

FEBRUARY After pruning, tying of the vines took place, wherin the remaining canes were positioned along the trellises. This step allows for even distribution of fruit, maximizes sunlight exposure, and facilitates proper air circulation. All of this is crucial for promoting optimal fruit quality, ripening and overall yield come fall.

What else is going on…
It’s mustard season in Sonoma County!
This is a magical time of year when the vineyards are covered in a soft yellow blanket. Not only pretty, these tiny yellow flowers act as a cover crop and protect soil from erosion and replenish its nutrients. It’s also a sign that spring is not too far away.

Events

Adruni held its first Pairing Event with Après Pastry & Bakery in Lake Zurich, IL! Chef Jen Duke created a special three course tasting menu with sweet and savory bites that paired perfectly with our 2022 Sauvignon Blanc and 2021 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS: RECIPE OF THE MONTH
This month we are sharing Nancy’s Turkey Chili. It’s hearty, warming on a winter day and pairs great with our Cabernet Sauvignon!
TURKEY CHILI
- 1 lb Ground Turkey
- 2 15oz Cans White Northern Beans, strained and rinsed
- 1 12oz Jar Green Salsa Verde
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Onions
- 2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
- 1/4 tsp Cumin
- 14 oz. Chicken Broth
- Sour Cream & Chopped Jalapenos for topping
Brown turkey, onion and garlic. Drain fat or add a little oil if meat is dry. Add all other ingredients and simmer. It’s a soupy style chili so add more broth as you prefer.
Top with sour cream, jalapenos, avocado or any other of your favorite chili toppings!
